World John Lapraik Speaking Competition 2011

After a successful competition in 2010,
the World John Lapraik Speaking Competition
is once again being held
in the Ayrshire village of Muirkirk,
as part of the 2011 John Lapraik Festival Weekend.
Competitors are required to recite Robert Burns’
‘ Epistle to J. Lapraik’
in front of a panel of judges,
to win an exclusive trophy
and the honour of being dubbed the
‘World Champion’ Epistle to Lapraik Speaker.
The competition will take place in the
Caravan Park Function Suite, Muirkirk, Ayrshire
on Saturday 4th June from 2pm
following the Annual Lapraik Memorial Reading in Muirkirk Parish Kirkyard at 1pm
by,
last year’s winner, Cameron Goodall.
Audience tickets (including haggis and neeps)
will be available from the
Organising Committee – Price £5.
John Lapraik artefacts will be on display during the competition.
