Muirkirk Walks

Muirkirk has always been a place for walking. Locals can often be seen treading the paths between the Smallburn or the Village and Kames with a climb to the top of Cairntable being something that is recognised as normal!

Today, the people of Muirkirk have been instrumental in developing a series of walks which can be enjoyed by locals and visitors alike. These are:-

• John Brown's Walk - 3.5 km
• The Old Railway Walk - 4 km
• Twa Brigs Walk - 5 km
• Cairntable Walk (climb ? !) - 10 km
• Sanquhar Walk (over the old coaching road) - 28 km

Planned Walking Activities in Muirkirk

• The annual Muirkirk Walking Festival takes place in the early summer of each year. In 2008 this was on Saturday 14th and Sunday 15th June 2008 - more information.
