Muirkirk Memories

The Bug Hut

A couple of muirkirk locals were recently disagreeing about the Bug Hut. The disagreement was about whether it ever existed.

Yes, it did! But, we asked "where was it? What was it?"

Thanks to Bill Haugh who responded and told us -

" The Bug Hut was situated on the waste ground behind The Heid Inn at the top of the town. It was last used by the Girl Guides and the Brownies. The Scouts had their own hall across from the cooperative.

Thanks also to Brian Williamson who told us that The Bug Hut was  a large wooden flat roofed building and was used  by Mr  Gibson.

Does anyone else have memories of the Bug Hut - and anyone got a photograph?
