REFLEXOLOGY - some basic information
Brief History
Reflexology is the modern name for a therapy which has been known and used
successfully in many countries of the Ancient World. It
was first recorded in Egypt about 2330BC! Reflexology is
now an established branch of Complementary Medicine and is becoming widely
recognised by the medical profession.
Definition of Reflexology
Reflexology deals with the principle that there are reflex areas in the
feet and hands which correspond to all organs, systems and glands of the
body making the feet a "mirror image" of the body.
How Reflexology is Applied
Reflexology is a methodical application of gentle pressure by the
therapist using fingers and thumbs over all areas of the client's feet and
ankles (or hands if appropriate). It is suitable for health
problems of all age groups and is compatible with all other forms of
medicine.
What Reflexology Can Achieve
High levels of stress can often lead to a wide range of health
disorders. Reflexology is a positive, highly successful method
of reducing the physical and emotional stresses and anxieties of today's
society. Reflexology brings balance and harmony to all body
systems. Reflexology can calm or stimulate according to the
needs of the body, without harmful side effects.
